Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon dill (fresh or dried)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 1/2 – 3 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Prepare Wet Ingredients:
Heat the cottage cheese and water in a small saucepan or microwave until lukewarm (about 100–110°F/37–43°C). Avoid overheating as it can kill the yeast. - Layer Ingredients in Breadmaker:
- Add the lukewarm cottage cheese and water mixture to the breadmaker pan.
- Add sugar, salt, dill, garlic powder, and softened butter.
- Pour the lightly beaten egg over the wet ingredients.
- Add Dry Ingredients:
- Add 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour to the breadmaker pan.
- Create a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast (avoid letting the yeast touch wet ingredients directly).
- Choose the Setting:
- Select the Basic Bread or White Bread setting on your breadmaker.
- Choose a medium crust color (or your preference).
- Monitor Dough Consistency:
- Check the dough after the first few minutes of kneading. It should form a smooth ball.
- If it’s too sticky, add more flour 1 tablespoon at a time. If it’s too dry, add water 1 teaspoon at a time.
- Let the Breadmaker Work:
- Let the breadmaker complete the cycle (knead, rise, and bake).
- Cool:
- Once done, carefully remove the loaf from the breadmaker pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
