🎄 My Mini Gingerbread House Decorating Adventure ✨

Hey there, fellow holiday lovers! 🌟 I recently decided to dive into a fun and festive activity: making and decorating mini gingerbread houses. I have to admit, it was such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit, and I want to share all the details with you—along with my super simple gingerbread house recipe! 🏠🍬

I had a blast making these little houses! They’re the perfect size for decorating, and they really bring out your creative side. Plus, they’re great for a family or friends’ holiday activity. 🎨👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The supplies:

Miniature gingerbread house cookie cutters
Royal icing (This works as glue to hold everything together—important for those tricky walls! 💪)
Candy decorations (think gumdrops, sprinkles, candy canes, and mini chocolate chips—yum! 🍭🍫)
And of course, I couldn’t forget the holiday music 🎶 and hot cocoa ☕ to get into the mood.

After decorating, I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of my adorable little houses. They’re so cute, I almost didn’t want to eat them!

Tips for Your Gingerbread Decorating Day 🎄:

Set up a decorating station with all your candy and icing so everyone can jump right in. 💡
If you don’t want to make gingerbread from scratch, you can always buy pre-made kits from the store! 🛒
Don’t be afraid to get creative! Try adding unique decorations, like pretzels for a fence or marshmallows for a snowman. ☃️
I had so much fun making these mini gingerbread houses, and I hope you do too! Whether you’re doing it with kids or just for yourself, it’s the perfect holiday craft. 🎅🎁

Happy holidays and happy decorating! 💕

Mini Gingerbread Houses

Description

Here’s the recipe I use for the gingerbread! It’s pretty simple and doesn’t take much time to put together, but it tastes amazing!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves), and salt. 🥄
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. If it gets too sticky, feel free to add a little more flour.
  • Roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper until it’s about ¼ inch thick. Cut out your house pieces (I made a simple rectangle for the base, two walls, a roof, and a front/back panel).
  • Bake the gingerbread pieces for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool completely before decorating!
